I think when we have 12, it significantly changes the dynamics...even more so if we can build to 14-16. Then a "full" map is very dynamic while having the Campaign style of surprises which seem more like the "real" war experiences in most cases. When it falls at 8x or below, small footprint is a necessity as we have proven since developing alternative chess boards. I wish we could get to where we have "squads", even if the squads are picked by random in advance with a sign-up each week. However, I don't think many want to take the time to do a signup...so that function is, IMHO, a missed opportunity. A lot of cool things could come into play if we grew our ranks. Having said that, this is still a hot game for those who show up. When I say "squads", I mean a ad hoc sides which use Teamspeak, plans strategies and agree to certain basic protocols for communication before the war for the common goal as the war advances Example; if an "AWAC" positioned pilot happens to be over a drome and can see 3 new planes spawning with one lower, and the AWAC can reach a far end drome as could all other Allied planes before the Germans can defend that far west drome, well exchanged COMMs between all of the Allied side could wipe that drome and have sufficient capacity to take out a number of targets east of that drome...during that turnover. The first run on the west drome resulted in slightly more than 50% buildings down or damaged. That resulted in two dromes half damaged, and neither destroyed. Just an A-Wac ked observation.

Three hours! I finally bowed out last night a few minutes after 7pm; Zilski, Swordfish and Hans were still going at it. No winning side at that point.

Thats why i like this format of 2 bases each, all on the east side. You have to really deserve it to win, but a draw is most likely. Then its like a bar with no closing time...fall asleep on your bar stool, or stagger home when you feel like it.

The only issue I have with the east side, is that there are no bridges, non-building dumps or RR targets. The bridges can be quite challenging to drop. With the east side, it's always the samo-samo dumps and factories.

Don't forget Fo, he was still going till the end! I have this to offer, the Cmap only one Drome per side, but two Bridges & two Tent dumps! 8 targets to a side. Take a good look... I did remove two Aerodomes. "Click on image to enlarge"
Salute!

Perhaps make the hun north drome the target, to make it less likely of a short game? And before someone points out that the allies have nearly twice the distant to fly to the target base...the allied speed advantage is not just about distance covered, but also evasion. It's also an advantage for intercepting the huns on their push forward.

If we try your idea Hal, another thing that might be considered is making B5 (Allied west drome) and D1 (Hun north drome) the only available dromes for takeoff....remove the others. Just brain-storming....

Just brain-storming.... With equal distance to fly to base targets it would give a huge advantage to allied planes. If im flying a spad or snipe, i dont care how high above me a german plane is, i can choose to not engage and be distracted from my journey. If in a german plane, its more than likely i will have to fight my way through to targets at some point. Germans need a shorter distance to balance the game.

Spads are an integral part of the game ...to make dr1s create that whiny sound we love so much.
