I just found finally a great glide wrapper that gives me 100fps under fcj control panel 1600x1200 res. I'm running wine staging version 6.0 and use win7 compatibility mode for it. Currently using an app called Qjoypad for my joystick. It maps every key no problem. I know wine works just as well on mac osx.. any comments?

You think Qjoypad works on el Capitan Max OS? My key views didn't help Zilski defend that West-End Drome in YoYo map

No unfortunately Qjoypay won't work on mac os. It seems there are only paid apps available. Hopefully someone knows one that is good. My glide wrapper is Nglide, which I read about on Rens site. Never knew about it before. Qjoypad is available easily for all Debian and Ubuntu distros, by simply issuing sudo apt install qjoypay. Or use the Discover software manager to find it. If a windows user wants to run rb3d under linux, I highly recommend an Ubuntu version. I have been using Kubuntu for years now, it has a nice simple start menu like windows, and uses the KDE interface which allows icons and gadgets on the desktop like windows. Basically if you can run windows, you can run Kubuntu. If you add wine, you can now run windows applications as well, like RB3D. Qjoypad is a linux app that will recognize any usb joystick and allow you to program all buttons. If anyone has questions about Ubuntu, or wine, and how to install, I will be happy to give step by step instructions.

I recently starting fooling around with Linux run from USB stick. I was able to get RB3D to run nicely with the wine and glide wrapper in Ubuntu 14.04. Using a 32 bit iso and an older version of Ubuntu I think this will also run on older computers and perhaps offer a way to run the game on older hardware without need for even a hard drive. As long as it can USB boot, it should run fine even on Mac hardware.
This is all still being tested out some, but I did fly with a new 32g 3.0 USB on Wednesday and all went well except for one lock up. It ran fine thereafter. If anyone has a need for something like this, let me know and I'll be happy to share how I did it. It's also possible to clone these once made.
That's it for now, Salute!
Hans

Woohoo....I flew my first flight in Red Baron on a Linux operating system last night. And the whole OS was on a USB stick. And my next OS USB stick may look like one of those tiny tiny plugs on a PC for wireless keyboard or mouse. We have a smart, creative and very persistent IT tech in our midst...Mr. Hans

I once had one of those tiny tiny wireless mouse plugs fall apart. I fixed it with very delicately placed dabs of super glue. Came out perfect.

I can't run RB3D on Ubuntu 20.04 with wine 5. It just gives me a blank window, both on autorun.exe and Baron.exe.

Strange it won't work. Are you using WineHQ wine? As in using this for a repository? wiki.winehq.org/UbuntuAlso I would use Staging 6.7, as it is much more capable of running stuff... including much newer windows apps and games. If you installed the Ubuntu version, you will have to uninstall it first. Install Synaptic for doing stuff like that. sudo apt install synaptic Let it load, and search for wine. Remove it. Follow the steps at the link above. Especially: sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 Then: wget -nc dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.keysudo apt-key add winehq.key Then: sudo add-apt-repository 'deb dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ focal main' Then: sudo apt update Then: sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-staging Copy and paste this into a term box. At the end type in: winecfg Answer y and y and it's done. If you need more info please ask.

If you have winehq wine, then you should be able to right click on Baronmmp.exe, and then click "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader".

In Ubuntu 20.04, it's called "A wine application". Plus, now that I ran those commands, it doesn't run MSTS anymore (which is why I had it in the first place).

I am running this under 21.04, but I did the same under 20.04, 20.10, 19.04, 19.10... it's been the same for years. You don't have the right wine installed I'm afraid.....
