S! All
Our Finnish pilot friend "Ace" applied his heretofore hidden talent to creating a "flame glitch" clientside patchset to prevent the flood of data which occurs due to a fault in the flame event resulting in mass boots. Wish we could do it in the server program, but this is a cool fix.
Ace tested the patch and found that it works..in an abundance of caution he requests a community test for confirmation under the vicious "real world" environment of War@4.
To that end, we will give it a go on Saturday@4 (US time). There are 3 files which must be added to your RedBaron3D install, created by Ace.
You can acquire them by posting a request on the forum, or reaching out to one of your wingmen.
We will request that anyone who does not have the patches then continue exiting...but let everyone know you have not installed it by that time.
Note: Ten years ago I spoke with an ex-Dynamix person who worked on packet flow issues in late 1998, but he was not working on the flamer glitch.

You can get it here FlameFix by "Ace" Click on the FlameFix to download
Salute! Zil
This patch will not change anything permanently. It makes only temporary changes to your RAM memory during the time you play RB, that’s all. Ace

Copy libstdc++-6.dll, libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll and RB_v003.exe to the RB main folder and start the game with RB_v003.exe.
Windows might ask questions but carry on, it will pass the nagging CD window and then you are ready to play.
START YOUR GAME WITH RB_v003.exe !!!!!!!!!!!

I actually haven't seen too many flamers lately myself.....so I would like to suggest that, for the sake of the test tomorrow, we use incendiary bullets to encourage flamers and really shake this out....tomorrow only.

What I thought was an odd glitch in Ace's FlameFix patch, turns out to be my joystick's trigger button wearing out, which I determined today after much testing. Yesterday's game was the very first time I saw my guns misfiring, so naturally I blamed it on the latest thing I added (the patch)....but no, it's my MS Sidewinder stick. I opened it up and squirted electronic cleaner/lube into the button, but to no avail. I'll have to see if I can order a new button for it. This old MS Sidewinder has taken a lot of abuse over the years, and this is the first problem I've had with it. It's been a great joystick.

All of our joysticks have gotten serious workouts over the decades.
Thanks for the feedback. Adds a nice flourish to the test.
One more flag at full mast for Ace's first tested prog! lol

This is not a one time thing! You must always use RB_v003 to start your game for the Flame Fix to work.
Salute!
