I wasnt irritating enough...we lost...must try harder Last week I was spawning from the West Hun drome when the war started. Solo....except for the entire Allied Air Force showing up in very few minutes....I think Hal's post slaughter comment was....uh...."kaboom!" Now, it wasn't that I wasn't screaming a warning because in my foray out to the middle of the mud...I saw blips blips and...uh....blips...like Haleiwa radar....and as I screamed out a warning to everyone to get the heck over....no one responded on chat....and no one showed up. It looked just like Pearl Harbor.....I did kill a couple but that was wave one...they didn't need two waves. So, today, two of us showed up at D4 with the young TARbo ready to defend...he was suppressed by death while we did the big smackdown.....and we still had time to slide over and take out a factory and dump...and once again...show TARbo one more effect of two on one...sequentially just to be polite. IMHO..had we NOT taken out D4 Pearl style...today's war would likely have gone the other way.. NO one cares much....except how much fun it was..and always is. Thanks!

Oh....when someone new shows up in the server I chat post "redbaron3dofficialsite.com" and invite them to go to the forum and sign up. That is usually followed with a 2nd post of the forum addy by various folks.
I get it..but if they go to the website, they get the FORUM login..(it really is the website's forum) but they also get to see whatever pages any of you happen to have on the website....and shining a big spotlight on Swordfish's page/link to his website where a treasure trove of things that new/old-new folks can find most (and when they ask for something else he can add it) things to get flying...and the front page which has (needs to be moved to the top of the page) a current MPLAYER files to cut and paste.
Any support for directing such people to the website..and effectively the FORUM as well...is much appreciated. I will be paying enhanced attention to the website soon in many ways...and any ideas are appreciated. Centralizing RedBaron3D stuff is probably helpful to people in finding our War@4.
Thanks

Thanks I understand now. I haven't been using rb3dofficialsite.com to get to the forum-I use a direct link on my toolbar. Maybe I should start going there first. I was foolish enough to assume that just because it and the forum were two different sites, the first one would not change. I'll think again on that one.

Swamp, I have been directing people on the Survivor's FB group over to your website. Two observations:
The front page is not mobile-device friendly. It loads slow, and the graphics don't display well.
Also, the top pic of a hi-def DH2 in a grassy field is misleading. One person on the FG group, after seeing it, got the wrong impression and commented on how much RB3D has changed. The pic may look like what COULD have been, ROF style, but it's not RB3D.

Thank, Bowman
Yeah, the graphics are about to be worked on to get the site loadings faster throughout.
That beautiful DH2 (and the background terrain as well) was paid for and produced with the intention of it being the first RedBaron3D high graphics....
The text is pretty clear: it is what Red Baron 3D could have been.
None of that should be keeping Survivor's FB group members from joining our wars.

I might add that a major upgrade to the code was completed which would allow use of bitmaps many times greater than 256x256. If new corresponding terrain and all models graphics were produced at that advanced scale, graphics would be stunning. Terrains would be dense.
Photo realistic High poly 3D graphics platform was not worked on, despite a plan and offer to do that.
Did someone really say that to you?? Seriously?

Yes. Actually on the Airplanes and Aces of WWI FB group, (not the Survivors group), where someone has been heavily promoting the latest WOFF release. Under one of his posts, I took the opportunity to mention that RB3D multiplayer is still active (hoping that some RB vets might be on there), and posted a link to your webpage. Another person who said he played RBII as a teen later commented under my post, replying to me, "Wow...You guys have really upped the quality." I didn't reply back, but I can only imagine he was refering to the DH2 pic.

Thanks for the clarification.
I would prefer to assume that the continued strength of our little community, the unique servers we offer and even the apparent qualities of the iMap, yet to be exploited, but will soon be full offered when Cameljock, Stan, and myself can offer a fully scorable new world for Red Baron 3D....are what got her attention.
The guys at WOFF are really smart, so if he read the DH2 reference, he may not know the details but he wouldn't assume that is an active RB3D aeroplane and terrain.
What do your Survivor's say when you ask them to fly with you?
Salute!, Cavu....great flying against you yesterday...

Swamp, my thoughts on this are, we are trying to encourage RB vets to return, and even bring in newcomers, to a game with older graphics - while presenting the case that eye candy isn't everything; getting together on the servers having a blast is really what counts, and that's where RB3D mmp shines. So I do not see the value in pointing these folks to a website where the first thing they see is a picture and statement lamenting what RB could be but isn't. Do you not see this as a negative, confusing and possibly discouraging? And I still believe the person I referred to above DID assume that the pic presents what RB3D looks like today. Like many on FB today, who look at the pics and comment without reading. That's a sad fact, but unfortunately too often true.
I think we can agree that RB will never look like ROF or WOFF, and that's ok. RB's strength now is the fun camaraderie we have on the servers. I have recently read that there is clique squad bullying on the FC (Flying Circus, a ROF sequel) servers - guys ganging up on newcomers and driving them off. We don't have any of that crap anymore, and won't tolerate it. This is what we need to highlight.

I agree with bowman on this one. The fun on the servers and the people are what makes RB3d the Best WW1 flight sim out there period.
I have RoF, IL2 and WOFF but RB3d is way more FUN to fly. Easy to learn controls, great views, and did I say Fun! plus great friends to fly with.
RB3d NFM made be a little on the arcade side, but I like it that way. I do not need or want a more realistic FM. Plus add a terrain patch and a little imagination it looks great!
Salute! Zil

I agree with everything you are saying about RedBaron3D, or obviously, I wouldn't have been flying it for 22 years, spent a significant amount of time and capital on it.
Bowman, you are confusing issues, and trying to combine things that are not required to be combined. IF today RedBaron3D could have ROF graphics, but be the same game...which obviously it would be except chances are many more people would enjoy its uniqueness compared to ROF or any other WWI sim...but also have advanced security to allow for higher numbers of people to be active......such as...having squads but with a vastly superior visual, terrain options, far more aeroplanes, a non glitched AFM flight model....on...and....on....you are saying you would not want to fly that version of the same game? AFM does not have to be hard core, but there are some cool things about it if it were a hybrid between NFM and AFM. Which I would LOVE and I have known TONS of RBers who agreed with that vision. I have super fun every week flying NFM.
That is your privilege, and it is my privilege to view the game as I do..including its potential. IF someone does not wish to play RedBaron3D, or specifically fly in our servers because someone conveys what RedBaron3D could have, should have, and still could be......that seems a bit odd.
I think if a 12 year old read the line about the DH2 and was asked to interpret it..since you are guessing at what the person meant each time you have posted, the child would probably say something like "what does it mean that the game could have been better?" BTW...I did ask that....and that is what he asked.
At least we agree we like....errrr....love? RedBaron3D.

The Hi-res D.H.2 and the grassy terrain behind it didn't fool me when I was exploring to see if there were any communities that were still flying about a month ago. I at once assumed it was a picture from Rise of Flight, since I had played RB3D before-on Direct Draw, mind you, never seen Glide before then-and had seen a Rise of Flight preview, so I knew the what the graphics of RB3D looked like.
